How to Make the American Flag S’mores Dip for the 4th of July
Fireworks in the sky, laughter in the backyard and the crackle of the fire pit – nothing says 4th of July like a celebration filled with warmth, family and friends and something sweet to share. Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue or a cozy gathering with friends, finish the night with a sweet showstopper that is festive, fun and fireside ready: a baked s’mores dip in the shape of an American flag.
Made in a rectangular baking dish, layered with Hershey’s and mini Reese’s and topped with red, white and blue marshmallows, this dessert is an instant crowd-pleaser. Bake it indoors, then bring it out by the fire pit for a patriotic celebration.
What you will need:
Rectangular baking dish (9” x 13”)
Hershey’s milk chocolate bars
Mini Reese’s cups
Large marshmallows
Red & Blue sugar
Small bowl of water
Toothpicks
Graham Crackers
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Layer the chocolate by lining the bottom the baking dish with the Hershey bars and then sprinkle the mini Reese’s cups on top. Next, color the marshmallows by using a toothpick to dip a marshmallow into water then into the blue sugar and then place in the upper left corner of the dish in a square. Color some more marshmallows in the red sugar and alternate red and white marshmallows in rows to resemble stripes. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until chocolate is melted and marshmallows are puffed and slightly golden.
Serve warm with graham crackers.
This festive treat pairs perfectly with the ambiance of a hand-forged fire pit.
Happy 4th of July from our family to yours. Let freedom crackle.
