Fire Pit Magic: Make Your Own Natural Fire Starters

Lighting a fire pit can be a challenge, but these easy homemade fire starters can make the process effortless.  Made with all natural ingredients, these fire starters will not only ignite your fire but also add a subtle, natural fragrance.

Materials needed:

Silicone baking cups

Beeswax pellets

Candle wicks

Small pinecones

Dried flowers such as lavender or rose petals

Dried herbs such as rosemary, sage and thyme

Baking sheet

Start by placing the silicone baking cups on a baking sheet and then fill 7/8 full with beeswax pellets.  Then preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Place the baking sheet with the filled cups in the oven for 10 minutes or until the wax is completely melted.

Carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven.  Immediately add a small pinecone to each cup, followed by a candle wick in the center.  Then, sprinkle dried flowers and herbs on top for a decorative and aromatic touch.

Allow the fire starters to cool completely at room temperature until solidified.  Once hardened, gently pop them out of the silicone cups.

Keep them in a cool, dry place until ready to use.  To start the fire, place one fire starter under your kindling/wood and light the wick.  This will provide a slow, steady burn to help your fire catch.

Perfect for cozy backyard fire pits or giving as a gift to friends!
