Go Big with Summer Color: Planting a Statement 42” Planter
There is nothing quite like a statement planter to set the tone for your outdoor living space. The bold steel design and generous size of our 42” Planter makes it the perfect centerpiece for an entrance, patio or garden. With summer in full swing, now is the time to create a show-stopping seasonal display.
We suggest planting a lush, layered arrangement that is anchored with a boxwood topiary. We are using vibrant pinks, vivid greens and cascading blooms to create a garden-worthy centerpiece.
You will need:
1- large boxwood topiary, ball form
8- gerber daisies in varying shades of pink
8- heads of Simpson lettuce
8-10- trailing petunia hanging baskets in varying shade of pink, we like wave petunias
Quality potting soil
Slow release fertilizer
Start by prepping your planter. First, layer with gravel and a layer of soil. Next, position your boxwood topiary in the center of the planter. Make sure it is secure and standing straight, then fill the planter with soil, forming a mound. Arrange the pink Gerber daisies in a loose ring around the boxwood. Vary the shades of pink to create interest. Tuck the Simpson lettuce below the gerber daisies. This vibrant, ruffled lettuce isn’t just edible but ornamental. Its lime green leaves provide a contrast to the dark green leaves of the gerber daisies. Finish with trailing petunias in shades of pink, mirroring those of the gerber daisies that will trail off the edge of the planter, creating a soft look.
This arrangement is a pleasing balance of height, color and texture. Whether placed next to an entryway or as a patio showpiece, this layered summer arrangement is guaranteed to be a floral focal point.
